Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain Vaners
Thoughtfully planned. Carefully made. Personal to you.
Porcelain veneers can change the colour, shape and length of your teeth. At Moss Dental Studio in Kitsilano, the process starts with understanding what you would like to change—and what you like about your smile already. Dr. Neri Moss takes time to plan the details with you, from your first conversation through to the final fit.
What are porcelain veneers?
Veneers are thin, custom-made porcelain coverings bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth. They can help with chipped or uneven edges, changes in tooth shape, some small gaps, and discolouration.
The aim is to find a shape and shade that suit your smile, with attention to how your teeth fit and function together.
Are veneers right for you?
That depends on your teeth, your bite and what you hope to achieve. Dr. Moss will assess your oral health and talk through the options before recommending treatment.
Sometimes a smaller change with cosmetic bonding or whitening may be appropriate. If tooth position is the main concern, Invisalign may be worth considering first. Teeth with significant damage may need a different type of restoration.
Veneers are a long-term commitment. Treatment usually involves removing some enamel, which cannot grow back. Your teeth and gums need to be healthy before treatment, and clenching or grinding may affect whether veneers are suitable.
What does the process involve?
A conversation and assessment
Tell Dr. Moss what you have in mind. She will examine your teeth and bite, discuss the possibilities and limitations, and help you understand the next steps.
Planning the details
Photographs, mock-ups and try-ins help guide decisions about shape, colour and proportions. This is a collaborative process, with time for questions and feedback.
Preparing and fitting your veneers
Your teeth are prepared as needed, and records are taken so your veneers can be made. Temporary veneers may be used while the porcelain is being created. Before the final veneers are bonded, Dr. Moss checks their appearance and fit with you.
How many visits? The process could include up to five appointments. Your schedule will depend on your treatment plan and any care needed beforehand.
How much do porcelain veneers cost?
$2,399 including lab fees
The total depends on the number of teeth being treated and any other care required. We will explain your recommended treatment and costs before you decide to proceed.
Questions about veneers
Will my veneers look natural?
Shape, shade and proportions all contribute to the appearance of a veneer. The planning process gives you and Dr. Moss an opportunity to discuss the look you want and work through those details together.
Do I need veneers on all my front teeth?
There is no set number. The plan depends on which teeth concern you and how a change would work with the rest of your smile.
Are porcelain veneers reversible?
Usually, no. Where enamel is removed, the change is permanent. Those teeth will need ongoing restorative care, including replacement veneers when necessary.
How long do veneers last?
Veneers can last many years, but they are not a lifetime restoration. They may chip, loosen or need replacement. Daily care, your bite and habits such as grinding all matter.
How do I care for them?
Brush and floss daily, keep up with dental visits, and avoid biting hard objects or using your teeth to open packaging. If you clench or grind, discuss protection with Dr. Moss.
